Becoming a church member
We believe practicing healthy church membership is one of the most important parts of being a vibrant church. Members are responsible to encourage one another, pray for one another, teach one another, and maintain the integrity and unity of the church and its mission. We believe it is important that we hold one other accountable to these responsibilities.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Discovery Church, you will be directed to this process:
1) Member Interest meeting. During the member interest meeting, our church elders share information about who we are as a church (church covenant, what we believe, what we do, what is important to us). We highlight what members can expect from the church, and what is expected of church members. We also take time to answer any questions you have about our church.
2) Request an application for church membership. After you have attended a Member Interest meeting, you can request an application for church membership. Once your application is completed, it is returned to the church elders.
3) Schedule a membership interview with a church elder. Once your application for church membership is received, a church elder will contact you to schedule a membership interview. This time is set apart to go over your answers from the membership application, to go over the church covenant in more detail, and to ask any questions needed to evaluate your desire to join the church.
4) Presentation to the elders and church body for acceptance into membership. Once you have completed the membership interview, you will be presented to the elder body for affirmation. Upon affirmation from the elders, you will be presented to the church body to be voted on and received as a new church member.
